Abstract
The increase in trade in Mexico (imports and exports) has also generated an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. However, differentiated patterns are observed. While secondary activities are characterized by being net importers of emissions, primary and service activities are net exporters of emissions. Imports from the Mexican's main export activities - electronic and electrical equipment and vehicles - generate the highest emissions quotas abroad. In other words, the requirements for imported intermediate inputs are developed in polluting production processes in their places of origin. Since the macroeconomic perspective, the results suggest analyzing the supply chains of the mentioned sectors in terms of their energy efficiency.
