Abstract
The current Tunisian electricity system is relying on fossil fuels, around 97% of the total electricity production is based on natural gas and crude oil. Tunisia's GHG profile is dominated by emissions from the energy sector, coming mainly from the Natural gas combustion. The need for renewable energy integration seemed to be a necessity for Tunisia. For this reason, the government has settled a goal for renewable electricity sources integration by 30% by 2030, equivalent to 3815 MW as a total installed capacity, from which 100MW of biomass is expected. Tunisia has also a great potential of biomass. In this research work, agricultural biomass is concerned, mainly cattle manure for its availability and its negative environmental impacts. The conducted work during the summer school aims to assess the environmental impacts of integrating the biomass to electricity production using the Input Output based Life cycle assessment using MARIO.
